“I’ve just stayed here with my partner for a night and it’s a mixed review from us.
Incredible food, decor and room (would recommend upgrading to a little for a bigger room, just about base line).
However, where this hotel fell down for us was by far the customer service. The staff felt like they needed to be provided with training as to provide better service - both the restaurant and reception. We were disappointedly overcharged multiple times even with me being very detailed settling the final bill this was still incorrect. They staff did refund this house we the service was still disappointing.
A few other points was in regard to the package we order not clearly staying the inclusive meals were on a limited menu and us not being notified our jacuzzi booking was cancelled.
Great hotel with lots of possibility, just some more training would be beneficial.”

“Sadly a very poor experience at the Fable, we had been to the Dunedin Fable and were hopeful of an equally excellent experience, this was not to be. The noise from the nearby nightclubs was so excessive and we could only get to sleep at 4am when they closed. This seems to be a common complaint when i looked at other reviews, wish i had checked first. There are 5 star hotels all over the world in big cities who sound proof, this seems a priority! We had dinner at Cookes, I understand staff is an issue at the moment. Our entrees were forgotten, the main was delicious but after waiting an hour to have plates cleared and order dessert we gave up. There was plenty of wait staff, they just clearly had received poor or little training. Very disappointing experience.”

Beautiful hotel in a fantastic location with walking distance to shops restaurants harbours and parks.
The room we had booked was nice and comfortable. We were concerned after having read lots of reviews complaining about the noise from the club which is directly under the hotel. I woke up at night for some water and it was quite noisy (a Wednesday) though was able to get back to sleep quick enough. Wife is a lighter sleeper but slept through it so I can't comment really. We were there two nights and the second night we slept through without problem. It might depend where your room is etc. You are downtown in the city after all.
There's a private jacuzzi you can rent which is great.
The staff were also very friendly.

We just had a great stay, thank you so much :D we had a luxury king room for the night and it did feel very luxurious! The food was outstanding too! We had the steak and Lamb which were both cooked to perfection along with the potatoes and polenta chips. Everything was well worth the higher than average price point. The staff were all lovely and very helpful. Would recommend to anyone

I’ll start with the positive part. It’s a gorgeous little hotel that satisfies those with an eye for pretty things. Service at concierge/reception and the restaurant was also excellent. It was a nice touch to have complimentary tea and cake on arrival. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom beautiful and clean.
The hotel is also very centrally located and within close walking distance to just about everywhere we wanted to visit.
Noise levels at night was a real problem. Even with windows closed, sleep was frequently interrupted by sounds from the street (clubs, drunken screaming).
Not sure how to call it as 5 star.

Not what it sells itself as. Firstly was downgraded from junior suite due to “glitch” which was a blessing in disguise as our friends got the junior suite they booked but was at the back of the hotel down and endless corridor and felt like a basement, no compensation offered until requested. Given drinks voucher for 4 and $100 refund. When paying the bill told that glasses of champagne not included in the free drinks - did “they” tell you that? NO and then had request again the $100 refund. NOW for the noise. Unbelievable racket until 4am from nearby nightclub. We were on the top floor and the thump thump was unbearable. Staff pleasant BUT unforthcoming until asked. Would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone. A very disappointing last night in NZ after a wonderful holiday.

From the moment you arrive the friendly smiling staff make you feel like you are at home. Great soft and comfy beds and a fantastic breakfast.
Queen street is in the heart of Auckland so is handy and accessible to anywhere you need to go but is busy and sometimes a bit loud on weekends.

On entering the hotel, I was delightfully surprised to have my luggage promptly taken care of. Check-in was straightforward and I was shown to my room with my luggage managed for me.
The room was large and comfortably furnished. Plenty of windows meant it was light and airy. The bathroom had a large shower stall and the showerhead provided a generous waterfall under which to bathe.
All in all a very pleasant stay in the central part of the city.

Class and location in one. Absolutely fantastic. We had a top floor Queen street facing suite on Saturday night and I was worried about noise however we didn't encounter any. Very comfortable, undisturbed sleep and happy hour drinks from 4pm!

We thoroughly deserved our five night Junior Suite pampering at Hotel Grand Windsor.
Certainly treated us well. Daily wine before dinner was most appreciated as was the fabulous OTT High Tea.
