“This was the most disappointing stay ever at a resort! I am a retired hotel manager with over 13 years in the industry and by far this is the worst experience I have had and would not recommend this property! My daughter and I stayed six nights here to celebrate her birthday. We live in San Diego and after a long eight months of traveling to and forth to Miami because of her Aunt's illness and subsequent death, we wanted to stay local and support the recovering hotel industry.My daughter did her due diligence and researched the local resort hotels with a spa and pet policy because she wanted to bring along her dog.We arrived and was excited to relax at the spa. However the next morning when we got to the spa there was a sign on the door stating that the spa was closed until further notice because of Covid19. This was not stated on the website! That night we had to switch rooms because of an unpleasant odor and the noise coming from the ice machine outside our door. We missed breakfast that morning because we had to move rooms from 820 to 1620. My daughter was paying a rate which included breakfast.After 4 days relaxing by the pool with our dog we were told that only service dogs were allowed at the pool. This again was not stated on the website or mentioned to us when we checked in or did any of the pool or restaurant staff said anything to us previously. We asked to speak to the manager who apologized for the inconveniences and offered to comp the resort and parking fees and add a $100 credit to the account. This however did not address the fact that now we did not have a spa, we could not relax by the pool so we had to look outside the resort for amenities we were paying for at additional cost to us.That night we went off property for dinner and asked for the linen to be changed and dirty towels replaced in our room, We came back at around 11:30pm and could not find any parking. The parking manager allowed us to parkin one of the valet spots in front of the hotel. Unfortunately when we got to the room, there was no fresh linen and the dirty towels were still in the bathroom. We had to call down for fresh towels and placed the dirty ones outside.On our final night the property had a wedding with music so loud we could hardly hear the television in our room and we were kept up until 10:30pm when the music finally stopped. On checkout, my daughter was not asked how was her stay and the $100 credit was applied to the final 2 nights parking fee which should have been taken off the folio. The two stars given is for the bell staff who were very helpful in our arrival, move and departure, especially John who was the only one who asked how was our stay!For$455/night spa/resort hotel and a nearly $4000.00 bill, this was by far the worst experience we have had staying at hotels locally or internationally! Hyatt Regency Resort and Spa Mission Bay, you have a great deal of work to do to get back to the standards we expect of a Hyatt resort!”
