“Where to start! Me and my girlfriend stayed here as a special occasion close to Christmas. Boy were we in for a surprise, we’d upgraded our room but the room we were given was well below the standards of a 5* hotel. The room was situated at a junction between 3 corridors, so people would walk past at all hours of the day slamming the corridor doors. The walls were as thin as paper too so we could hear everything from the other rooms. As for the room itself, it was drab, dreary and dated. The room was incredibly dark and half the lights didn’t work, paint was peeling, the carpet was stained and looked 50yrs old and the room was much worse than ones at a 3* hotel, the room didn’t even come with a mini bar. As for the bathroom, this is where things get interesting. The plumbing in the hotel seems to be very poor, both the sink and toilet were blocked during our stay. We only found this out around 10pm when we used the loo, we went down to reception to report this and request a change of rooms. We were told no rooms were available (this was untrue as you could book a room at the hotel online), we were also told there was no one available to fix the toilet. The staff at the hotel agreed to refund us for our stay but this refund hasn’t been received yet, they have told our travel agent that they changed our room which is a lie. Only good thing about this place is the breakfast which was lovely, but the portion sizes are very small and for the price you are paying not worth it!”

“This was a fantastic place to stop off for a cup of tea. From the second we spoke to someone on the door, we received first class service in an opulent and interesting hotel. The place is clean, and feel like luxury. When we went we had some English breakfast tea and some peppermint tea. Both were stunningly delicious, and I thought the peppermint tea might well have been the best I’ve ever had, and I tend to drink a lot of nice teas. I would absolutely come back here.”
