“One of the worst property/facilities as well as customer service hotels we have experienced. There was no air conditioning in the lobby/breakfast/meeting area and we heard from staff that had been for almost a year! The swimming pool had no water but the door was unlocked and there was no indication until you went in there! Some rooms we were given appeared not clean, with missing and/or broken clocks/items. Coffee was empty or cold some of the time, garbage overflowing, and wet floors with no signage. But for us the worst part was we had 8 rooms reserved for a wedding party, and when we asked the day before if it would be possible to check in a couple hours early the front desk said we'll make a note and try. Then that morning housekeeping also said they would try, to check back at 1, which we saw they were finished then. So we did check back with the front desk, and who appeared to be the manager replied check in is at 3, no exceptions. We just needed 2 rooms a little ahead for our out of town guests to change clothes before coming to the wedding venue at 3. Hampton Inn's website says "We go the extra mile to deliver the exceptional stay you deserve with 100% Hampton guarantee." This was certainly not the case for us there and then, which was very disappointing and disturbing as long time Hilton Honors members. Now several days later after reporting this to Hilton customer service we've found that this manager told them internally I accommodated what I could! This is unbelievable and unacceptable, and I truly hope Hilton will look into this property and manager further. We recommend you avoid this hotel and stay at the Michigan City or Benton Harbor ones in the area instead!”

“I was very disappointed with this Hampton Inn, and I cannot imagine Hilton wants this hotel representing its brand. The person who checked us in at 8 p.m. was dressed in sweats and was lounging in a chair behind the desk. He was not unpleasant but wasn't very professional. The room was dark and the window shade was not working properly--crooked on the shade roll. The hollow bathroom door had a hole on the inside, the grab bar in the shower was loose, and I had to stand on the toilet seat to reach the (very dusty) tissue box, which was on top of the towel shelving. There we no hand towels, but there were two bath mats. The carpet felt slightly sticky under my bare feet. The breakfast room was overly warm, but the woman who was cleaning and tending to it seemed to be on the ball. The ice machine and vending machine on our floor (3) were both out of order. I had a feeling that some of the employees were temporary, perhaps coming in just for the day, or the week, or whatever. I understand the current difficulty finding service help, but this didn't look on the up and up...the morning we left I saw several of them hanging out near a vehicle at the edge of the parking lot. It wasn't a terrible experience, but it was definitely not what I'd anticipated from Hampton Inn.”
